Will Gum Disease Go Away After Tooth Extraction?

Gum disease, or periodontal disease, is a progressive condition caused by bacteria in plaque and tartar. Left untreated, it can lead to inflammation, gum recession, bone loss, and eventually tooth loss. Many patients wonder if extracting affected teeth is enough to “cure” the disease and restore oral health.
While removing severely affected teeth may help manage infection, it is not a guaranteed cure for gum disease.
